About Gangnam Market

Located at 1001 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60642, Gangnam Market operates as an asian grocery store serving Chicago in Illinois. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under grocery store, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

Hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 AM–9 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Gangnam Market at (312) 929-2204; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, gangnammarketusa.com.

Customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 on Google across 1,069 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded asian grocery stores in Chicago.

Food is amazing, I love Matt bakes breakfast sandwich! The "walking tacos" got chicken once and pork another time, so freaking good!

First time there, so cool, like flying to what I think Japan might be (or at least what I've seen on FB or TikTok)... cool experience, great atmosphere, great food, lots of anime/manga nerds everywhere πŸ˜€ got the pizza I saw on IG, pretty good, the sushi was phenomenal. Plenty of parking. Good prices. Will be going again soon.

Honestly a really solid spot if you’re inside the grocery store and just want something quick that actually tastes good. The chicken and rice combo on the menu looked like white chicken and white rice, but when I ordered it, I got the yellow chicken and yellow rice instead. I’m still not totally sure how to order the version from menu, but the yellow chicken and rice ended up being really good too. Also, little secret item hidden in the bakery the red pork on rice. Really delicious, huge portion, and definitely worth trying. They even have a bar there, which I wasn’t expecting. Overall, if you don’t know where to eat and just want a quick fix without being disappointed, this is actually a great spot.

If you're looking for a spot that perfectly blends a trendy vibe with serious flavor, Gangnam Market in River West is a total gem. It’s half-grocery, half-food hall, and 100% worth the trip. The Vibe & Grocery Selection The first thing you notice is the aestheticβ€”bright neon signs, colorful artwork, and a retro-cool energy that makes even grocery shopping feel like an event. β€’ Snack Paradise: Their snack aisle is legendary. From honey butter chips to exotic Hi-Chew flavors and every ramen variety imaginable, it’s hard to leave without a full basket. β€’ Curated Staples: While it has your standard American grocery items, the real draw is the curated Asian selection: fresh bulgogi meat, a solid tofu section, and fun drinkable konjac jellies.
